I’ve been making paper pinecones for a while now in custom orders and items in my Etsy shop, but have had an itch to create something on a larger scale. This is mostly because any person can buy pinecones for cheap or just pick one up off the ground, but where do the gargantuan pinecones grow??
The PDF and SVG versions of this paper pinecone pattern (along with the instructions) are available in my DIY Etsy shop, DIY Rosy Paper Posies. Here is a preview of what you would need to make a giant paper pinecone:
- Rosy Paper Posies giant pinecone template
- 36” wide roll of brown kraft paper (cardstock also works and will hold up better over time)
- Styrofoam balls
- 16 or 18 gauge floral wire
- Brown spray or acrylic paint
- Fan brush or brown marker (optional)
- Plastic knife
- Low-temp hot glue gun
- Needle-nose pliers
I can see these giant paper pinecones in centerpieces or on a large backdrop at a big winter event or as a topper on a large present. You can check out how I used these in my Woodland Hoop Backdrop post.
If you are simply not in the mood to make your own but would like me to make it for you, request a custom order or see if I have anything ready-to-go in my original Etsy shop, Rosy Paper Posies.
I would love it if you shared this post, but not the actual pattern if you purchase it.
